Note:   This alleged motion was supposedly passed at an illegal meeting of the ASD Board of Trustees.  Frank Jordan is a Trustee of the ASD.


This motion passed at the January 23, 2005 ASD Trustee Teleconference Meeting.

SAVE THE SOCIETY MAILING MOTION - FRANK JORDAN

WHEREAS: In the membership roster of the American Society of Dowsers it is clearly stated that "This membership roster is for private circulation only among members of the American Society of Dowsers, Inc. (ASD) for communication among themselves on matters directly relating to ASD affairs and activities and for nothing else, except with the express permission of the Board of Trustees." And "This said membership list may never be used in any way by, or on behalf, of any entity other than ASD. Contrary uses shall be considered a violation of copyright and ASD Code of Ethics." And,

WHEREAS: In the ASD Constitution and By-Laws it clearly states in Chapter 3 Section 6 that "Membership in the society may be terminated by expulsion, in the manner provided in Section 7" where it is stated "Should a Member be shown guilty of misconduct, the abuse or misuse of privileges of Membership in this Society, or of personal activities prejudicial to the best interests of the Society, the Trustees, by unanimous vote (mail or otherwise) of all Trustees in office, may expel this Member from the Society or may suspend privileges for a limited time." And,

FRANK JORDAN’S MOTION

WHEREAS: An independent group calling themselves "Save Our Society" has used a mailing list removed from ASD headquarters to distribute a letter for political purposes concerning election of future Trustees, and

WHEREAS: Said group made allegations and defamatory statements concerning other members of ASD, and statements unfounded in fact concerning the activities of ASD Trustees and the current condition of ASD, and

WHEREAS: Said group implied endorsement by certain Trustees and encouraged write-in votes for members who had not given them permission to use their names, and

WHEREAS: There is evidence that certain members conspired to use the ASD mailing list for political purposes prior to mailing a letter to the entire membership to promote their personal agendas, and

WHEREAS: There has been a considerable amount of e-mails received by Trustees not involved in the "Save Our Society" demanding to know how their addresses were obtained for use in a distribution of "hate mail", and

WHEREAS: The ASD Code of Ethics states that "Members shall be guided in all their relations by the highest standards of personal integrity," and "They shall uphold before the public at all times the dignity and the reputation of the Society."

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED a motion be passed by the board of trustees directing the President to request that MaryMarie, Liaison to the Advisory Group,  ask the Advisory Group if they would investigate the "Save Our Society Committee" and members who participated in the mailing sent to the membership, to determine if they should be expelled from ASD membership by the Board of Trustees.

MOTION: I, Frank Jordan, move that the Advisory Group be asked to investigate the "Save Our Society Committee" and members who participated in the mailing sent to the membership, to determine if they should be expelled from ASD membership by the Board of Trustees.
Motion Passes Unanimously.
