(3)     Are you aware that the blood brain barrier of children, much like their brain tissues and bones are not as sturdy or as well developed as the same structures in adults?

(4)     If you are elected, will you implement a serious investigation into the use of WiFi in schools with a focus on the health effects on children?

(5)    Do you understand that those who feel that their health has been impaired by the use of Cell phones, cordless phones, cell phone antennas and WiFi  believe that the problem is not from the thermal effects alone, which is the only measurement considered by Health Canada Safety Code 6 Standards, but that exposure to electromagnetic radiation [especially involuntary exposure] causes detrimental biological effects on living tissue?.

 Also, studies have shown that radiation from electronic devices can be absorbed by putting a cactus plant in the room, near the device. Is there any evidence that this can be used for WiFi signals as well? This would be important to research.

 While out canvassing I did meet a lady and we talked about electropollution but I have not had an opportunity to follow up.  Being involved with local schools for the last 15 years I have worked with the administration to install WiFi so I do need to know more as soon as possible.

 Gianfranco Amendola:  "Thank you for providing me an opportunity to express my views on this subject. ...  If elected, I would be in support of establishing a task force to respond to, investigate and take action regarding the grievances of the citizens of Toronto who feel that their health is being harmed by the growing proliferation of cell phone antennas, cell phones, WiFi and (so-called) smart meters."
Giuseppe Pede:  "The issue of electromagnetic radiation is complex. I do not believe municipal politicians have the legislative authority to intervene in such matters. Cell phones, computers, televisions and the whole are attracting a whole new generation of youth and adults. I believe this is more an issue for Health Canada."

Tanya Hostler:  1- Yes. I have heard that some groups are concerned about this issue.
2- Maybe. Unfortunately, I do not know enough about this issue and/or the technology involved at this point in time to provide an expert opinion as to whether or not it constitutes a health risk.
3- No. I have no formal medical education.
4- Yes. I myself am concerned about the impact of cellular and WiFi devices and radio waves on the immune system and would be willing to support some reasonable extent of information being made available on the issue generally, i.e., not just children in schools but everywhere.
5- Yes. I understand that some people believe this.
6- No. That one is news to me.
7- No. I am not sure that a Task Force is the right approach. However, I do think it is an issue that bears further scrutiny.
8- Yes. Please provide me with more information.

Dean Maher:  1. Yes and no, I would need to have Toronto public health investigate this further before.
2. I really could not answer that question because I do not have  the expertise.  If health canada did confirm that, then i`d look to them for guidance on the issue.
3. I could not answer that because I do not have any medical training.
4. There has been enough suggestion, that it could be an issue.  this would have to be directed to the province to implement.
5. No, i don`t understand that issue.  I have no medical training and someone who doesn`t have that training cannot effective respond to your question.  I would like to know what the findings from health canada concerning this question.
6. No, I am not aware of that.    I don`t have medical training to investigate these claims.
7. No, this is a provincial and/or federal issue.  The city needs to focus on green spaces and fixing pot holes, garbage collection, transit, etc., what you`re asking really need provincial expertise and/or federal expertise.

6. NO – THIS DEPENDS UPON THE TECHNOLOGIES USED FOR DATA TRANSMISSION USED IN THE SMART METERS.  IN SOME CASES THE TECHNOLOGY IS SIMILAR TO THAT OF A CELLULAR PHONE AND IN SOME CASES IT IS NOT.

(8)  NOT AT THIS TIME -  THERE ARE MANY STUDIES - PUBLISHED AND ONGOING.  WE DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO REVIEW DURING A CAMPAIGN.

Michael Erickson:  As a teacher (and one who has taught both philosophy and history) I am willing to learn more and I recognize that what is considered 'True' in a culture is often relative and not absolute.
(4)  I will definitely be supportive of an investigation but with a very frugal and reasonable budget; I would insist that the funding should come from a variety of governmental levels and/sources.  I am not sure if I feel comfortable, committed or competent enough on this issue to be a champion for this, but I would most certainly be receptive and supportive.
(6)  I am aware that this is a definite possibility.
(7)  I am not sure if task force is the best term or mechanism.  However, I do believe that there needs to be a mechanism in place to respond to, support and advocate for people who are experiencing health problems, even if the current establishment doesn’t legitimate the causes of their health problems; I feel that the provincial government would best be suited for the funding and support of this systems or mechanism.  I will not be quiet while people suffer in isolation, regardless of the cause.
