FEBRUARY 2009 - HERBS: Because our focus is on herbs this month. The Focus on Health includes a large section on Cayenne, its uses and benefits. In researching the article, I was surprised to find written, from many herbalists: "Cayenne has more health benefits than any other food or herb on earth." Who knew? Who knew that properly applied, a little pinch of cayenne could stop a heart attack as it was happening? Who knew how fantastic it was for moving sluggish blood, and energy? Who know that consuming only a pinch a day could dramatically improve your health and the way you feel? Certainly not any of the ultra cool raw guru guys who are trying to convince us that their special mooga mooga berries grown on Mount Fitzhigh every 6th December that they can sell you for only a billion dollars an ounce is the best thing going -- when you can pay $3.00 for enough good quality cayenne to last you a year.
Try starting your day with a cup of: hot water, some raw honey, fresh lemon juice and a pinch of cayenne. Or drink it all day if you like, as a cleanse. The quality of cayenne is important. No, don't purchase it in the supermarket. I get mine at Herbie's Herbs, who are Toronto Dowsers members and give us a 10% discount. 556 Queen St. West, just east of Bathurst. Their cayenne comes in 40,000, 90,000 or 180,000 HU (Heat Units). I just worked up to the 90,000. That will wake you up! (For a real eyeball popper, try adding garlic and/or ginger.)
GROW YOUR OWN. IN YOUR CITY!: Cauliflower: $4.86 a head? Broccoli: $2.49? The price of honey up 40% because of cold weather and other environmental factors? This is what we saw in Toronto the last couple of weeks in January.
Because of higher prices, the deteriorating health quality of purchased (usually non local, non organic) produce, the questionable status of this produce such as origin, pesticides, GMOs --- or not and other factors, it behooves us to grow our own. Other factors may, in the near future even include a reliable supply -- will the lemons, melons, cukes, etc. -- even be available at any price?
For those of us in the cities, this is, and shall become even more -- easier, thanks to the growing awareness of the need to do so and the desire to do so.
With the strength and tenacity of kudzu, this awareness and practice is growing and mushrooming all over the place, even in inner cities. (GO TO: www.cityfarmer.info/category/mushrooms/)
We have more tools, more understanding and techniques that with less resources, less labor, less space, we can get HIGHER ENERGY and HIGHER YIELD produce than even 20 years ago. Toronto Dowsers have been blessed with speakers who have passed on all sorts of teachings to help us grow more better faster easier. Speakers such as Dr. Ibrahim Karim, Charles Hubbard, Alan Reed, David Yarrow, Ivan McBeth. Read more in this issue.
MUSHROOMS: What's the big deal on Mushrooms lately? Read about it. You, too, will marvel over it. Look at the abundance of what we are learning here, to substantively improve our lives, with gifts just handed to us without a great expenditure of time, money, labor or effort. Such a miracle.
Here's helping you to keep your New Year's Resolution to Dowse more often, regularly and actively! (See below for what happened at the January Practice!)
NOTE: It will work out best if you arrive on time. However if you arrive after we have started please do not disturb the focus of those who are exercising and wait for the exercise to finish. How do you become a better Dowser? By Dowsing! Practice! Exercise! You will be getting a lot of hands on practice at this session, practicing basic dowsing skills.
Anyone who is competent at any sport, art or skill knows you have to keep doing exercises; the basics,, to remain proficient. Just as pianists at all levels practice their scales. Dowsers, too, benefit through practice.
This practice will definitely help clean out those fusty old cobwebs that gathered and settled while daylight decreased and help make your dowsing more flexible, improve your accuracy, confidence, you will be asking better questions and gain more trust in your abilities. This session does NOT teach dowsing, although tips will be offered.
Dowsers of all levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced, other) will benefit.

Personal Herbal Tea Combination, with
DIANE TAIT, CHT, Registered Herbalist
How this topic came about:
A couple months ago, I had a strong craving for Peppermint tea. I remembered a canister I had which I had not opened for over 2 years and contained an herbal combination my naturopath put together for me many solstices ago. Even though those herbs were combined years earlier, as I was sipping I marveled as to how fresh and distinct the tea tasted, MUCH better than those ersatz so called herbal teas where everything tastes the same, and, lousy. (Especially since Lipton's bought Celestial Seasonings.)
"How lucky am I", to have had the close guidance of that naturopath. She put together a combination for me personally, to reflect the needs I had at that time. Of course the Toronto Dowsers ought to have similar fortune so each of us could put together our own personal, useful, efficacious and great tasting tea. totally personally tailored to our own requirements and tastes. Le voilà!We all could learn more about herbs. We need to know more simple inexpensive natural ways to keep up our health. A knowledge and use of herbs is probably the best way to do so.This meeting can give us a foundation to then move on to herbal and weed walks, growing herbs in your urban garden or even in a small space on your kitchen counter.
My mentor, the late Ted Kaufmann was always finding ways of having fun when he dowsed. He explained to new dowsers back then, that the "dowsing phenomenon" was in many ways very similar to your pet, in that it always wants to please it's master. It gets bored with an all-work, no-play approach to dowsing, and so it will start to play tricks on you to liven things up.Bruce's answer to balanced dowsing is to always look for the humor in everyday life all around you, and dowse the zany off-shoots of your own funny-bone, instead of only those areas you normally feel you need to dowse. When calling to confirm a room reservation for my Chapter at our local library a while ago, the perky youthful female that answered cheerfully told me... "Oh, yes, Mr. Irwin, here it is. We do confirm that the meeting room for your group, "The American Society Of Dowagers,...." ...ever dowse the composition of a Dowagers Society?"
Bruce Irwin, a well known, very competent, experienced, confident and exceedingly humorous (mostly) water dowser, from the Lake Placid, New York area, will speak to us about Water, Land, Earth Energy and Field Dowsing, what to find, how to find it, what it means, demonstrating and explaining. Here are samples of questions that can be answered by field dowsers such as Bruce:Bruce, who dowses continually, has taught hundreds of people how to dowse --- successfully. Bruce dowses professionally when he helps pinpoint the best spot on someone's land to dig a well for potable water, as well as fixing up situations where a well has gone dry.
In addition to showing us the whats and hows of water and field dowsing, he will also demonstrate for us something which few in our group have used to any degree of competence: The Use of the "Y" Rod. He is completely hands-on with water veins, all tools, and tool recognition principles! He'll even add in couple of new concepts!
- Do you ever see trees whose growth on one side might look healthy, but on another side it could be twisted and gnarly and you don't know why?
- Do you ever see patches of grass or brush, where the growth is yellowed or sparse? Or greener and lush? Or why pesky insects keep coming to one area?
- Do you ever see a driveway or a stretch of road where, no matter how many times the pavement has been repaired, the crack(s) always come back?
- Do you wonder why ants make their hills in the same locations time after time, no matter how often someone tries to destroy them?
- Do you ever feel tired when you are standing over a certain spot, or, energized?
- Do you ever see an infant who only sleeps on one side of the crib and wonder why that might be?The above are just a few of the questions that dowsing can provide the answers to. The answers can include geopathic stress. Also, the effects can be attributed to earth grids. Geopathic stress simply indicates an area within the earth that has been subjected to pressure. Whatever is above that area, if its 5 feet or 500 miles below, is affected, energetically, by the stress beneath.
Earth grids are invisible lines of energy that encircle the earth.
Dowsing helps you discern where these energies are. There might be something you can do about it, or you can move off those spots. One well known (to dowsers) study in Germany concluded that 95% of the people who had cancer were sleeping over places that experienced geopathic stress.Bruce will be here for a few days.
During that time, he will take us on 2 (outdoor) field dowsing trips showing us how to dowsing can help us to discern specific properties of the land due to the accumulation of natural energies under, on and around the surface. Another day, he will conduct a basic field and water dowsing workshop, helping us to practice and understand more about the land we live in.Bruce is the president of the Mohawk-Hudson Chapter of the ASD, has been a speaker at ASD conventions for many years teaching and demonstrating dowsing and is currently a trustee of the ASD and its Treasurer.Bruce Irwin would often invite Marilyn Gang of the Toronto Dowsers to co present his lectures at ASD on "Creative Ideas on Running a Successful Dowsing Chapter". Because of their diametrically different environments and approaches, it turned out that Marilyn showed attendees how to succeed as a City Mouse, whereas Bruce demonstrated the success of the Country Mouse.
A separate flyer with course content is included here with this newsletter mailing. As it appears that we may have a more extensive than usual opportunity to publicize these courses in the next 2 months, and more people know about Dr. Gilbert and his teachings,
If you are interested in taking one or both of the sessions, please do contact Marilyn so we can try to see that you get your place. This is the FIFTH YEAR! we have been lucky enough to invite Dr. Gilbert to speak to our group - unprecedented - as he is absolutely one of if not the most brilliant people one can ever hope to meet, an outstanding speaker and superbly understands and explains many heretofore unknown esoteric concepts regarding Spirituality, Dowsing (Vibrational, Western), Rosicrucianism and so much more on subjects that probably none of us, if any even have a clue about.
For many of us, his May 2007 workshop was, literally, very modestly speaking, The. Best. Ever. Beyond Awesome.WHAT IS INITIATION IN THE WESTERN SPIRITUAL TRADITION?
Initiation is a process by which the Individual awakens to a deeper understanding (and in time direct perception) of the invisible spiritual realities which shape our lives and all of creation. The Western Spiritual Tradition teaches the essential knowledge and practices of Spiritual Initiation through concepts which can be clearly understood by modern Western students. It includes deep teachings from earlier traditions (such as the ancient Egyptian) put into images and concepts which make sense to us today. In Robert's classes, there is a particular emphasis on the high level teachings and practices of the European Rosicrucian and Holy Grail Traditions, as exemplified in works such as those of the great Austrian spiritual scientist Rudolf Steiner.
HOW DOES SPIRITUAL SCIENCE APPLY TO MY LIFE?
Spiritual Science provides essential keys for modern Western people to understand the spiritual realities which guide our lives. Today we see an unprecedented growth in the number of people who are on independent spiritual journeys, who no longer completely subscribe to the dogmas of a particular religious group but want to know for themselves. This growth of the “New Age” movement has led to the dissemination of many different fragments of information and practices from different traditions, but with very few resources available to put these fragments back into a coherent picture. Robert's classes and Vesica trainings in Spiritual Science are devoted to offering a clear, coherent, and grounded context (and the missing pieces of practices and information) which is so hard to find today.
What Was
January 3: Dowsing Practice and Clinic
A bitterly cold but beautifully sunny day for our first Toronto Dowsers Dowsing Practice and Clinic.Folks seemed to be overly stressed out and draggy with the first big snowfall of the season, about a week before christmas day, going back and forth between fever pitch intensity and hibernation. Dowsing practice helped put life back into balance. At the end of the practice, the rust was definitely knocked off our pendulums, we were ready, oiled and swinging! That's "all" that is needed --- some warm ups! Questions were answered, perceptions changed, confidence restored, we all learned. We did blind dowsing, learned about clearing, some health questions, charts and and feeling the energy shift with blessing. Fast paced and fun, the 3 hours flew by. One of the most frequent comments was a renewed appreciation as to the importance of asking accurate questions.
DO COME TO THE NEXT DOWSING PRACTICE FEBRUARY 7th AT THE LOCKE LIBRARY, 9:30 - 12:30
Starting with her richly varied and deep background, veteran dowser, dowsing teacher, astrologer, radionics practitioner, fashion designer and more --- Margaret Ball had us enthralled for 2 hours as she took us on a tour through radionics, nutrition, dowsing, dictionary dowsing, broadcasting, the use of color with broadcasting and making broadcasting "sandwiches". Margaret has also studied with both Hazel Parcells and Dr. David Tansley.Growing up in the Depression, Margaret learned how to ReUse, ReShape, ReMake, ReDo, etc., to not be rigid, to be ready to change. These days, being more mindful of food costs she told us about switching from Salmon to Sardines. In addition to being less expensive, Sardines are lower down on the food chain and therefore less toxic.
Sugar Cane -- is a good food. Everything is in it. When its processed, they fractionate it. Get the stew pot out! When you peel vegetables, save the peelings to use to make broth. When you cook beef bones, put some vinegar in the water --- just a tablespoon --- it leaches the calcium out of the bones into the water. Use good nutrition. Margaret used good nutrition to get herself off of thyroid medication she was taking for 15 years. If the appetite is poor, make sure there are warm colors around you. Having warm colors stimulates the appetite. Restaurants who use a lot of warm colors such as red, do this to induce you to eat more. If you are not sure of the message, then you should dictionary dowse.Too many of us don't push the envelope when it comes to the uses you can make of dowsing.
Allergies: Allergies can affect any system of the body.
Using broadcasting, you want to eliminate the allergic response. This stimulates the immune response as you are not stressing out the immune system by always reacting to an allergenic stimulus.
One of the best and simplest books to use to determine allergies is using the Pulse Test, by Arthur Coca, where you see if there is an allergy if there is a change in your pulse rate.

PRISMS:
Radionics -- Is using some sort of an instrument to transfer energy from one place to another. You are specific about what kind of energy you want, the frequency of the energy and to where you want to send it.Music, astrology --- everything has color.
Margaret passed around prisms. You hold the prisms up to the light. You should see all the colors of the rainbow in that prism. If you don't see one of the colors, or, if its a very narrow band, you need that color.
How do you get it?
Through the clothing you wear, the food you eat.
Hazel Parcells --- if she got tired, while driving, she would pull over, then look through the prisms for a few minutes and feel rejuvenated.
You can find prisms in children's toy departments.
[NOTE: Several years ago I took a color workshop. They told us what they felt what colors we needed. Mine was similar to pumpkin orange. I never wear that color, I'm not fond of wearing orange colors for myself. Thinking I might need that color, I bought a pumpkin colored T shirt to sleep in. Well, when I wear it, it has a stimulating effect and keeps me up.Bringing Color into your body: Margaret has a little trick that she likes. When she is in the shower, she puts her head up so that the water is hitting her third eye. Then she concentrates on that third eye and she sees colors. The color that comes to her consciousness is a color that she needs. It is coming down from the upper bodies to the physical bodies. As soon as she sees it, she takes a deep breath and visualizes that that color is coming down into her body.
If she sees "pinks" she gets a little suspicious, because that usually means she has been exposed to a lot of radiation. The best way to get rid of radiation, is by taking Miso. You add it to soups, etc. You do not boil it as boiling destroys the enzymatic action.
Research was done as to what is the substance in Miso that creates the resistance to radiation poisoning. (It sounds like: "Zybicolon"). Margaret has made it up in homeopathic form for those who can not tolerate the salt in miso. It cleans out radiation, toxins, salts, etc. In the past year she is calling for it more often than she used to.A side note about the use of colors: In our January newsletter the Blu-Ray disc was discussed. The name Blu-ray Disc is derived from the blue laser (violet-colored) used to create this type of disc. Because of the beam's shorter wavelength (405 nanometres), substantially more data can be stored on a Blu-ray Disc than on the DVD format, which uses a red (650 nm) laser.
Dowsing through her 3rd eye: She visualizes --- she puts a blank screen out in front of her third eye. She asks a question. If the answer is "yes", the pendulum swings off to the right. If the answer is "no" the pendulum swings off to the left. If it stays in the middle it could mean the question needs to be re phrased.
One good place to use this is when you are driving and unsure as to the direction to go.The sooner you become comfortable dowsing in your head or without a tool, the better off you will be. You can train yourself to dowse without a tool.
When Margaret asks her dowsing system for advice about something to do in the near future, she also asks if this question should be re dowsed between the time she is asking and the time that she is told to do something. She is finding that the 2nd dowsing does not coincide with what she was told in the first time. This is because things are changing so quickly.
Margaret has about 300 different gem essences. She dowses combinations for people for what they need.
She dowses for combinations for her morning cereal and is amazed at the combinations. Be adventurous.
You always ask for good things. If you do it the other way it will come back and bite you in the tail.
Can you dowse for money? Sure. There is nothing wrong with money, its what we do with it. When she does this, she feels as if she is in harmony.
When you get wrong answers: One suggestion is to: Rephrase the question.BROADCASTING and How and Why to Make MAGNET BROADCASTING SANDWICHES::Disease is a distortion of energy somewhere.
She likes the books of Albert Davis. These were written in the 1970's. At that time, they were using magnets to encourage the growth of plants.
An older woman Margaret knew in England had diabetic cataracts. She used to go every year to a practitioner who worked strictly with color. Within a week's time, the cataracts broke up and were dissolved. She would have a session twice a day. One session was 90 minutes. The other was 45 minutes. The practitioner would have her look at a green color [NOTE: That is the color that this woman needed. It may not be the color that every person needs for this situation.] The woman reported that it looked as if they were tiles, breaking up.

Margaret also has about 300 gem essences and makes up essence combinations for whatever ails ya. THANK YOU, MRS. MARGARET BALL!
January 17: David Wilcock Video Day --- www.DivineCosmos.com
A good sized fascinated crowd was on the edge of their seats for 6 hours January 17 as we watched a David Wilcock presentation and a David Wilcock workshop from August 2008 --- material which, although much of it came from his research into the work of Russian scientists, he told us was brand new to Western audiences at the time. Many of us want to see these videos several times, but in pieces, to better absorb the new information. [I'd be very happy to do this again, either both seminars or one at a time. If you want to organize something, let me know.] The Toronto Dowsers saw 2/3 of the presentation at our November 2008 meeting. The interest was so intense, thank goodness, that it led to this rewarding video day.
You may remember that David was very influenced by "The Law of One", which is made available by LL Research.
Here are some of the notes I took:
"The real source of disease and illness is being out of alignment with your spiritual self."
"Cancer is a series of toxic thought forms being manifested as physical problems."
[Note --- this dovetails exactly with:
(a) Our December 2008 issue: Cancer is caused, (and probably also most similar serious illnesses) 100% of the time, by a searingly emotional issue -- sometimes not even realized -- that has been unresolved and therefore eats away at the body, and,
(b) Our January 2009 issue, from Bill Henderson: "The cause of Cancer is Emotional trauma or stress which has not yet been resolved."]"Consciousness in the brain is more of a field effect than from direct electrical stimulation. .... The brain anticipates things before they really happen. It is outside linear time."
Just as, when you dowse earth energies often, if you use dowsing rods, in the beginning when you are walking the land and come to the zone you are seeking, the rods indicate where that zone begins.
After awhile, you will be able to sense the the beginning of the zone before you actually come to it. You will know it is, for example, 3 feet ahead of you, then 6 feet, then 10 feet, etc., and your rods will confirm this.
Still later, as Joey Korn taught us in his workshop, you can dowse for these zones with your hands and still later even, you will just know the zones are there. Your brain, through your experience, awareness and consciousness, has you attuned to and reactive to these fields.

FROM JERRY BURT: "This particular Sunday sermon ...' Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust...' He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?' "

PAUL STAMETS (Olympia, Washington) is the Mushroom guru. If you enjoy eating exotic mushrooms, are interested in their nutritional and medicinal value and if you would like to learn how to establish mushrooms in your yard, garden or woods, his book "Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World" is a must read. His thirty years of experience in "engaging fungi", his original theories and research will reveal a world that many of us never knew existed. He calls Mycelium Running "A mycological manual for rescuing ecosystems". www.fungiperfecti.comThis book, combined with his 18 minute YouTube Video: "Six ways Mushrooms can save the world" will open your eyes to a totally new aspect of nature.
Part One, The Mycelial Mind, contains:
Mycelium as "the neurological network of nature" that can "expand to thousands of acres in size in cellular mats achieving the greatest mass of any individual organism on this planet". Mycelium is a single-celled organism that travels several inches a day. That means there is only one cell wall that protects this organism from pathogens, yet it thrives more prolifically that any plant or animal on the planet. It is mycelium's vast structural network that is responsible for decomposing plant debris, at the same time providing nutrients to the plant and animal kingdoms. In other words, mycelium is earth's life support system and should be understood, respected and protected as such. A mushroom is the fruit of mycelium. They produce spores capable of traveling great distances on the wind, on clothing, in animal feces and even on envelopes and packages in our mail. There are four types of fungi: saprophytes, parasites, mycorrhizal and endophytes. The saprophyte subtype is largely responsible for recycling organic debris and providing nutrients to the plant and animal world. Mycorrhizal fungi are vital to the health of forests because it transports nutrients to different species of trees. Various mushroom varieties possess potent anti-microbial properties. The author notes that a "moldy cantaloupe sent to an army research lab in 1941" led to the identification and extraction of strains of penicillium that led to the commercial synthesis of penicillin. His research led to the discovery that the extract of mycelium from the mushroom Fomitopsis officinalis "protects human blood cells from infection by orthopox viruses including the family of viruses that includes smallpox." Specific varieties of mushrooms possess antiviral activity against such viruses as hepatitis B, herpes simplex, HIV, influenza, pox, and more. Several varieties of mushrooms are sources of medicinal compounds including mushroom activity against specific cancers.

Part II - Mycorestoration
Part III - Growing Mycelia and Mushrooms:
- In Mycorestoration the author presents his original thought, theories and research into how mycelium and their fruit, mushrooms, can be harnessed for uses that support the health of humans and our planet.
- Mycorestoration is defined as the selective use of fungi to repair or restore the weakened immune systems of environments.
- Mycofiltration uses mycelium as a membrane to catch and filter upstream contaminants including microorganisms, pollutants and silt. Talk about filtration capacity, Mr. Stamets says that "more than a mile of mycelial cells can infuse a gram of soil". We can use mycelium on farms, in our own urban and suburban environments, in watershed districts, in factories, on roads and other stressed habitats to filter protozoa, bacteria, viruses, bacteria, silt and chemical toxins.
- Mycelial mats, called "bunker spawn" mature in months and can be used for years to prevent downstream pollution.
- Mycoforestry is the use of fungi to sustain forest communities by preserving natural forests, recycling woodland debris, sustaining replanted trees with the goal of strengthening the forest ecosystem.
- Mr. Stamets emphasizes that contrary to conventional thought our forests are not "renewable" resources and discusses how carbon cycles that fuel the food chain can take centuries, if not thousands of years to establish.
- According to the author, acceleration of this process is possible by using wood chips as a spawning medium for fungi. This method has the potential to prevent forest fires because as mycelium grows on the wood chips they draw moisture to the forest floor in a sponge like way.
- Mr. Stamets urges forest pathologists to develop strategies that utilize mycelium to improve forest health.
- Mycoremediation is the use of fungi to degrade or remove toxins from the environment. According to the author fungi can be used to degrade heavy metals including lead, and mercury, industrial toxins including chlorine, dioxin, PCBs and organophosphates.
- Mycopesticides involve the use of fungi to control pest populations, including carpenter ants and termites.
- He has applied for patents to use this biotechnology which protect groundwater and habitats from damage by conventional toxic pesticides, as a natural method of eliminating termites, ants and flies. He calls the technology "green mycotechnology".
Inoculation Methods: Spores, spawns and stem butts
Cultivating Mushrooms on Straw and Leached Cow Manure
Cultivating Mushrooms on logs and stumps
Gardening with Gourmet and medicinal mushrooms
Nutritional properties of mushroomsIn the YouTube Video, Stamets shows how a plot of toxic (from oil) soil that was saturated with Mycelium spore, covered and left alone for 6 weeks. When uncovered, delicious edible oyster mushrooms were growing and the soil was sweet. Why? How? "Mycelium produces enzymes, peroxidases that break carbon hydrogen bonds. The enzymes remanufactured the hydrocarbons into carbohydrates: fungal sugars. Methods for inoculation, cultivation and gardening with mushrooms. Mr. Stamets says that the key to growing mushrooms is to first grow mycelium and that the most important technique is learning how to use wild, or natural spawn because it has the advantage of being acclimated to its habitat. Using fungi in the garden builds soil, improves yield and decreases fertilizer requirements. Photos illustrate the increased size of vegetables grown in mycelium rich soil. Edible mushrooms are good sources of protein, are very low in simple carbohydrates and fats and are high in antioxidants, selenium, potassium, copper, B vitamins and fiber. Nutritional content of mushrooms depends on variety and where they are grown. Pages 198-199 provide a very useful chart listing the nutritional properties of 16 edible mushrooms. Mushrooms are rich sources of enzymes including cellulose, lignan peroxidases, lactases, manganese superoxide dismutases, enzymes known for their ability to decompose plant fiber. According to the author, enzyme inhibitors in mushrooms are protective against breast and prostate cancer. Aromatase inhibitors that interrupt the conversion of androgens to estrogens are significant to those at risk for breast cancer. 5 alpha reductase inhibitors are significant to those at risk for enlarged prostate and prostate cancer. This is valuable, useful information for anyone interested in utilizing the benefits of mushrooms for health, both human and planetary. If you are reading this newsletter from Internet:

What happens to the toxic soil that has been "treated" with mycelium, after the hydrocarbons break down, they sporrelate (sp?), the spores attract insects the insects lay larvae birds come bringing in seeds and an oasis of life is created. These are vanguard species that open the door for other biological species. Coliforms are decreased and habitats are restored. In 48-72 hours, coliform bacteria was reduced by 10,000 times.
Fungi can hold up to 30,000 times its mass, they hold Soils together. and are extremely tenacious They are Soil Magicians, they generate humus and are the grand molecular disassemblers of nature Is the Mother that gives the nutrients to all plant life such as douglas firs, cedars, birch trees Produce strong antibiotics We are more closely related to fungi than to any other kingdom The sequence of microbes that occur on rotting mushrooms are essential to the health of the forest. They give rise to the trees that create the debris fields that create the mycelium. In one cubic inch of soil, there can be 8 miles of mycelium cells Spongy soil resists erosion, sets up a microbial universe Mycelium is earth's natural internet. It is sentient. It knows that you are there. The invention of the computer Internet is an inevitable consequence of a previously proven successful biological model. The earth invented the computer internet for its own benefit. Fungi were the first organisms to come to land: 1.3 billion years ago. Plants followed, several hundred million years later. Because mycelium produces oxalic acids, many other acids and enzymes, pock marking rock and grabbing calcium and other minerals and forming calcium oxyclates. This makes the rocks crumble and is the first step in the generation of soil. Fungi use radiation as a source of energy, much like plants use light. Fungi can destroy pathogenic insects such as carpenter ants, termites. This is the most destructive technology ever seen in the pesticide industry. Generate Fuel! ESCAPING THE CZAR
My grandparents and great grandparents, along with thousands of others in their same situations, emigrated from Europe to America at the beginning of the 20th century. They came from what is now Russia, Poland, Austria to Ellis Island, in Manhattan. They came because Cossacks, either under the Czar or not, were galloping horses through their towns and villages, sabers in hand, killing, raping, pillaging, torturing and so forth -- Jews. No, this did not come from story books. This came from my grandfather, who became a house painter in the Bronx.
One of the stories told to me by an elderly friend of my parents -- Rachel. She told this to me when she first heard about my interest in holistic medicine, it was in that context. She said when she was a young girl, playing outside with her dolls, they heard the pounding of the hoof beats. They all knew what to do when that happened -- make it as fast as possible to your hidey hole. Rachel jumped up and ran, only to trip over a farm implement, gashing her leg. Her grandmother saw this.
Rachel told me, "My grandmother saw this, she grabbed me under one arm and ran with me into the kitchen. Still going in the same direction, she swooped her hand under the kitchen table, scooping up a mass of spider web and slapped it on my leg. Then we ran into the hidey hole in the cellar, behind the fake wall, safe. I have never had a scar from that injury, and it was a deep one."
Rachel told that to me to let me know about the healing power of spider webs. I was amazed over that, and of her story and what people went through. You never would have thought it from this gorgeous, educated, brilliant, well made up woman, gentle well spoken woman what she went through as a child. From author Joel Rosenberg: joelrosenberg.com/
"First a quick bit of background: My grandparents and great-grandparents were Orthodox Jews who had to escape out of Russia in the early years of the 20th century because the Czar was killing thousands upon thousands of Jews. As they hid in a hay wagon that was crossing a border into an Eastern European country, Czarist soldiers drew their swords and plunged them into the hay to see if anyone was trying to escape. By God’s grace, no one was injured. None of the children coughed, or sneezed, or said, “Are we there yet?” or said they had to go to the bathroom. And by God’s grace, they didn’t successfully get out of the vicious anti-Semitism of Russia only to say, “Phew, let’s settle in Poland. Or Germany. Or Austria.” They made their way across the continent of Europe, got on a ship to the New World, landed at Ellis Island, and like any good Jewish family they set up shop in Brooklyn."
Strange, isn't it, that neither Joel nor I are throwing bombs at the Russian or Polish people to get "our land" back? Yes, I am dispossessed from the land my grandparents lived on. They were forced to live in ghettos. oh, wait a minute. We didn't have any land in the first place! Because Jews were not allowed to own land! What do you think would have happened if the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto tried to throw bombs into Warsaw? You think the authorities would have tried to sit down and have talks?
Vaccination in Grandma's Day: Sweet, Neighborly, Friendly
"I learned when I was a little girl about a custom amongst immigrants of my grandmother's generation. When a new baby was placed in its carriage, mothers would tie lollipops and all kinds of tasty sweets all over and around the carriage. The idea was to attract the neighborhood children. They'd take the sweets and at the same time introduce whatever germs they might be carrying. It was, I guess, my grandmother's generations way of vaccinating."
Said General Stephens:"I'd been raised in a Christian home. Went to church every Sunday. Prayed before supper. You know, the whole nine yards.
I got to a low point. I had lost some of my men in Kosovo. My wife had left me. My kids hated me. Everything was going wrong. And the thing was, I thought I was a Christian. And then I began to get angry with God, I'd yell at him at night, alone in my room. This went on for m months. I was slipping farther and farther into depression. Finally, one night, after watching a Billy Graham crusade on television, I yelled at GOd and said: 'I don't get you. The Bible promises love, joy, peace, happiness. Well, I don't have any of it. So either you're a liar, or I just don't get it.' ""So, what happened?" James asked, genuinely curious.
"Well, that's the thing. It had never happened before. And its never happened since.
I don't think it was an audible voice but it may as well have been. I knew it was the Lord, and He asked me, 'Michael, do you ever read the Bible for yourself?' Now, I had read the Bible from time to time, in church, you know, but the real answer was no, I rarely read it for myself. So I said, "No." And then He asked me, 'Do you ever really talk to me in prayer?'
Again, I said grace before meals, that kind of thing. But the truth ws I'd never really understood prayer, much less done it. So I said, 'No, Lord, I don't.' And He said, 'Michael why should you expect me to bless you when you don't even really know me?' After that, the transmission seemed to end."
*NEW* YEAR ROUND FARMERS MARKET
The TFMN.CA (Toronto Farmers Market Network) announced a new year round farmers market. In the middle of Toronto. St. Clair & Bathurst area, in what was a row of streetcar repair garages, reborn as an arts community, greenhouse, theatre and cultural centre. And Saturday mornings, year round, Saturday mornings (winter: 9-1) at the Green Arts Barns, 601 Christie Ave. (entrance from Wychwood). The official opening of the Artscape Wychwood Barns took place Thursday, November 20 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm with a public ribbon cutting ceremony and open house.

The Artscape Wychwood Barns has been carefully planned to be a model of financial and environmental sustainability. Heating and cooling are drawn from the earth’s energy; toilets are flushed with rainwater and many other environmental technologies will help make the Barns the first LEED certified heritage building in Canada. The Barns provide extensive community resources and programs while generating the revenue to pay for its own operating expenses.
The complex now features artists' live/work studios, office space for non-profits, a Green Barn with a greenhouse and garden, and a community gallery. The complex is surrounded by a park that includes an off-leash dog area, water play feature, volleyball court and outdoor winter ice rink.
I went there the 3rd Saturday. It was packed.

MORE FROM, THE OCTOBER 2008:
Different kinds of Gardening
CHARLES HUBBARD, our March 2005 speaker, phoned a few weeks ago. Charles is a BioDynamics expert and spoke to us on BioDynamics and Dowsing. One of the items he mentioned is that his experiements with the use of pyramids in his gardens is yielding a tremendous amount of "fruit". Charles said that the yield has increased by 20 times with some crops!!! Expect an in-depth report next month (?!) from my conversation with Charles.VICTORY GARDENS: During World War II, Allied governments encouraged their citizens to grow their own fruits and vegetables, to leave more for the troops. * * * * *
Nearly 20 million Americans (about 16%) answered the call. They planted gardens in backyards, empty lots and even city rooftops. Neighbors pooled their resources, planted different kinds of foods and formed cooperatives, all in the name of patriotism. Fruit and vegetables harvested in these home and community plots was estimated to be 9-10 million tons, an amount equal to all commercial production of fresh vegetables. So, the program made a difference. Against the counsel of the Department of Agriculture, Eleanor Roosevelt made a Victory Garden on part of the White House Lawn.
About 40% of the population of Great Britain did so as well. The necessity of obtaining high quality, chemical free, GMO free and reasonably priced produce is encouraging North Americans to grow their own once again.
Those of us in cities can become: Urban Gardeners (see the October 2008 newsletter for more ideas).
See this (20') video featuring Bill Moyers interviewing Michael Pollan "The Omnivore's Dilemma", with a surprising look at creative gardening in Brooklyn: http://tinyurl.com/6635or
"... One of the things that happened when we had the oil price spike summer 2008 was that the price of moving a box of broccoli from the Salinas Valley in California to the Hunts Point Produce Market in the Bronx went from $3.00 to $10.00. When that happened, 2 or 3 of the big growers in California started buying land in New England. They get it. We need to look at high quality farmland close to big cities. We need to protect farmland."
"It's happening. With very little support. Imagine what could happen if it had support. ... We are building an alternative food economy that is being done without virtually any support from the government. And its burgeoning."
"Not only will you discover that a very small plot of land, my garden now is only 10 foot by 20 foot, produces so much produce, I need to give it away..."

From Saskatoon:
SPIN-Farming is a non-technical, easy-to-learn and inexpensive to implement vegetable farming system that makes it possible to earn significant income from land bases under an acre in size.
|
SPIN is being practiced by first generation farmers because it removes the two big barriers to entry - land and capital - as well as by established farmers who want to diversify or down size, as well as by part time hobby farmers.SPIN farming creators and co-founders are Gail Vandersteen and Roxanne Christiansen
Wally Satzewich and Gail Vandersteen operate a busy produce stand every weekend at the Farmer’s Market in downtown Saskatoon, but the secret of their success is surprising: Satzewich, a former Sociology student, and Vandersteen are urban farmers. Proponents of a new kind of farming called SPIN (Small Plot INtensive), they grow their crops in seven back yards throughout Saskatoon.
Satzewich and Vandersteen began farming twenty years ago on an acre of land outside of Saskatoon. Thinking they needed more land to increase profits, they purchased an additional twenty acres north of Saskatoon along the river.
The decision to become urban farmers began with a couple of small plots for radishes and greens at their Saskatoon home. When they realized their urban crops were more profitable, they finally sold the farm.
Without owning any land, the SPIN method yields Satzewich and Vandersteen three crops of mixed salad greens, radishes, herbs, and scallions per 2 x 12-foot plot each growing year.

Being in a city offers a warmer environment, longer growing season, shelter from prairie winds, few pests and no deer to munch on the lettuce. Satzewich and Vandersteen use clean, reliable city water with simple garden hose irrigation, and limit their farm machinery to an odd assortment of rakes and hoes, an old hand-operated Rototiller, and a seeder on two wheels that is pushed like a cart. They use beet and soy to fertilize their organic crops and turn leftover vegetable matter into compost.
What began as an experiment in urban farming by two individuals has grown into a movement that has fans and followers across North America and beyond. The Wall Street Journal, ABC’s Good Morning America, and Sounds Like Canada have reported on the phenomenon. Satzewich and Vandersteen now offer ‘Learn How to SPIN’ Guides for purchase, and other resources.
SPIN’s profitability and popularity is good news for the future of food security and for supply of locally grown food, which is increasingly in demand. Back at the Saskatoon’s Farmer’s Market, Satzewich and Vandersteen’s harvest continues to supply a growing number of customers and many local chefs, with organic shallots, onions, radishes, broad beans, salad greens and squash.

If you are in the natural health industry, or are a consumer of natural health products, you need to know that in the spring of 2010 it will become a criminal offense to sell a dietary supplement that does not have an NHP number indicating that it is approved by Health Canada. The products that have this number will be listed on an online registry, (which Health Canada is already promoting), and enforcement officers will be sent to health food stores to scan products, and force removal or seize those that are not registered. If Bill C-51 is re-tabled and passed, they will have dramatically enhanced powers to do so.Out of an estimated total of 50,000 products left for sale on the Canadian market, (down from approx. 66,000 in 2004 when the Natural Health Product Regulations came into effect.), Health Canada recently reported that they have received just under 31,000 product license applications for NHP numbers. Given that in 4.5 years less than 9000 of these license applications have been approved (8977), and almost as many have been refused, (7740), by 2010 it is unlikely that any more than 15,000 of 50,000 will have their NHP number, i.e. roughly 1/3. So by 2010 fully 2/3’s of the natural products on the Canadian market today will be subject to seizure by Health Canada.
Of the products that have gotten their NHP numbers, most are single ingredient products. These are items commonly sold in the mass market, and are not unique to health food stores. The vast majority of multi-ingredient and combination products commonly found only in health food stores have yet to be evaluated, or have already failed. Thousands of multi-ingredient products are still waiting for approval. Thousands of them will not get it.
Upon seizing these products, the government will simultaneously eliminate a huge percentage of the public's potential effective alternatives to pharmaceuticals, and will also eliminate the health food stores’ ability to compete, as they will be limited to largely the same selection of products as the mass market with much higher prices. Of course all of this will be done for our own safety, when there is not one single Canadian death certificate EVER that lists a natural health product as the cause of death.
We have to wake up to what is happening! We need to start judging our politicians by what they are doing, instead of what they are saying. And what they are in the process of doing is dismantling the natural health industry, while transferring control of what is left of it to the pharmaceutical industry and trans-national corporations. This is to be accomplished by applying the 2004 NHP regulations.
If you would like info on what is happening, and what to do about it, ask for the accompanying letters take the time to read the attached letters and information sheets to this announcement. FOCUS ON HEALTH
(1) MMS, (2) Cayenne
MORE ON MMS! (Sodium Chlorite) A user comments last week:"I have a darkfield microscope with a video camera and I decided to record on the computer the blood pictures before I started taking MMS and every day thereafter. Before I took MMS I practically never saw any worm like creatures in my blood. After starting with only two drops I immediately started seeing all kinds of different bug types. I had seen a few once in a while in the blood of friends that came by. As I increased the drops the worms became more, in the beginning only going along their way to a destination. A few drops more and a few days later, they became quite erratic - just wiggling in place and they seemed to have lost their intelligence. When I reached 15 drops, the blood started to lose its foggy strawlike background and there were many areas that were totally clear from any objects - except for of course the blood cells. One thing I could still find here and there were the little worms of different types. Some I called 'fat sausages', some I called short barbells and some were long skinny barbells. But then there are also just fairly large round ones in white or in darker color. As time went on, I always was a little nauseous. As the 'bugs' became less, I became less nauseous.
Today (after 2 days of morning and evening 15 drops) I noticed a dramatic increase in various kinds of white blood cells and several of them were heavily loaded up with the white stuff - probably from dead 'bugs'. My immune system at work. There were still a few worm type creatures. I will continue with the 15 drops 2x day and will report how it goes.
From what I have learned from others, it appears that most people have these little worms and they are generally living (hiding) somewhere in the body and are only rarely floating around in the blood. It appears that the MMS takes away their ability to function normally and eventually they die. This means however that the strength, frequency and duration of intake of MMS are important and I hope to prove that eventually there are no more of these wiggly creatures. Now, of course I would love to know what they are and what they do. I am 64 years old (male) and really don't have any known chronic illness. I am doing this more for research for my family. But it is possible that those buggers, if left alone long enough, eventually will overwhelm my checks and balances system (immune) and will destroy my body. I hope this dissertation will help some of you to be encouraged to continue with MMS even when you feel a little sick or when you think it takes forever. Of course, it would be nice if everyone could have an $8,000 darkfield microscope. I understand that the reason for being nauseous is that the bugs who die give off poisons and that makes you feel that way. I cut back a little on drops in order not to get really sick and that worked.
This is going to be an interesting journey."
About which substance do some health experts say:
" Cayenne is a gift to humanity because
It
has more health benefits than any other food or herb on earth "
Cayenne! !!
- * - Touted as “the purest
and most certain stimulant known to man,” Cayenne is considered to be one
of the best crisis herbs.
- * - Dr. Richard Schulze, medical herbalist, says "If you master only one herb in your life, master Cayenne pepper. It is more powerful than any other."
- * - Cayenne is considered by many Herbalists, Natural Healers, Naturopaths and myself to be the top herb of all. Cayenne is known as the best, purest and most effective stimulant in the herbal kingdom.
- * - Cayenne is truly a gift to humanity. Over 3,000 scientific studies listed in the National Library of Medicine support the use of cayenne in preventing and reversing many common health ailments.
Cayenne -- a stimulant to improve appetite and digestionCayenne Pepper is made from the dried pods of pungent chili peppers. This fiery spice adds flair to dishes from Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East. THIS CHILI PEPPER HAS HEAT. This cayenne blend ranks 90,000 on the scoville scale. Compare with the ancho chilie at 1000-1500 or Yellow Habanero at 100,000-325,000. An African Bird pepper usually reaches 100 to 200,000 plus units. How high a chile pepper scores on the heat scale is determined by high-performance liquid chromatography measurement of how many parts per million of capsaicin it contains. (Capsaicin is the compound that gives chile peppers their fiery bite.)Cayenne stimulates all the body's natural systems -- circulatory, respiratory, digestive, nervous, and immune. As a whole body tonic, it's been used in conjunction with a whole variety of ailments raging from arthritis to ulcers.
In his book "Capsicum", Dr. John Christopher tells of a man who had ulcers so severe, to escape the pain, tried to commit suicide by drinking a tablespoon of cayenne in hot water. He flung himself on the bed, covering his head with a pillow to muffle what he believed were his final screams of agony. The next thing he knew, it was morning. For the first time in months, he'd slept through the night and the pain was gone.
Cayenne has been used for centuries to treat stomach ailments, heal wounds, and ease arthritis. Mixed with ginger, another digestive herb, cayenne clears out the bronchial tubes. Adding antibacterial cayenne speeds up garlic's natural antibiotic effects so much it's akin, some say, to taking liquid penicillin.
This figure is then converted into the historic Scoville HEAT UNITS that signify how much dilution is necessary to drown out the chile’s heat. The heat level of a chile is given as a range because it varies with how and where the pepper was cultivated. The lower-heat cayenne peppers are a lot less efficient, and they are the ones which are most highly contaminated. These are the ones you see labeled for 30,000 heat units. These are the ones to stay away from. For best healing results, 100,000 heat units or above is recommended.
" For sore throats, I generally apply a mixture of capsicum (Cayenne pepper) extract and Lobelia extract directly to the throat. (These are alcohol based extracts as alcohol extract work best for external applications … glycerites are too sticky.) Then, I gently massage the throat from the top down. This is a very gentle, slow process. Never apply so much pressure that the child feels uncomfortable. Work the sides and the back of the neck as well. You will feel the swollen lymph nodes. The idea is to gently "milk" them until they are no longer swollen. The capsicum and Lobelia help to relax the tissues and encourage the flow of blood and lymph."
One of the most effective stimulants, cayenne targets the digestive and the circulatory system primarily. Cayenne regulates blood pressure, strengthens the pulse, feeds the heart, lowers cholesterol, thins the blood, cleanses the circulatory system, heals ulcers, stops hemorrhaging, speeds healing of wounds, rebuilds damaged tissue, eases congestion, aids digestion, regulates elimination, relieves arthritis and rheumatism, prevents the spread of infection and numbs pain.
Cayenne stimulates every system and cell of the body. Cayenne has been valued around the world for its uses as a stimulant, astringent, antispasmodic, circulatory tonic, anti-depressant and antibacterial agent. In addition, cayenne acts as a diaphoretic to induce sweating, a rubefacient to increase circulation at the skin’s surface and a carminative to help prevent and eliminate gas.

In the circulatory system, it helps the arteries, veins and capillaries regain the elasticity of youth by feeding the cell structure. It helps equalize circulation by regulating the flow of blood from the head to the feet. Cayenne strengthens the pulse by increasing the power, not the frequency... In addition to helping prevent the build-up of cholesterol which can narrow the veins and arteries, cayenne also helps thin the blood and prevent blood clots that can clog the arteries and cause heart attack and stroke.
In more ways than any other herb, cayenne gets the blood moving. Touted as “the purest and most certain stimulant known to man,” cayenne is considered to be one of the best crisis herbs. By helping the circulatory system operate more efficiently, the snappy red pepper boost the energy level and eases the damaging effects of stress on the body.By increasing the circulation of the blood to peripheral tissues throughout the body, cayenne helps deliver necessary nutrients to inflamed and infected areas. Studies show that the nutrients in food ingested with cayenne are assimilated faster and more easily. The herb itself contains many nutrients essential to the health of the circulatory system including alpha-tocopherols, vitamin C and minerals. Cayenne also contains a high amount of vitamin A (beta-carotene) which aids in healing ulcers... Cayenne’s high mineral content, including sulphur, iron, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, makes it an effective treatment for diabetes, gas, arthritis, pancreatic and throat disorders.
A fresh cayenne chili pepper contains: Water, Carbohydrate, Starch, Protein, Fiber, Capsaicinoids. Chili Peppers are also low in fat and contain the right kind of fat: 66% of the fat as linoleic and 5% as linolenic acid which are two essential fats in the diet of humans.
One of the most remarkable qualities of Cayenne is its ability to act as a catalyst. Cayenne intensifies the beneficial effects of other herbs by ensuring speedy and thorough distribution of the herb’s active components to the important functional centers of the body such as those responsible for metabolism, data transmission, cellular respiration and neural hormonal activity.
Just a small quantity of Cayenne can dramatically increase the efficiency of most herbs, this catalyst herb is added to nearly every herbal combination available. Added to garlic, for example, Cayenne speeds up the antibiotic action of the other herb. Cayenne boosts the power of garlic so much it’s akin to taking liquid penicillin. Together, garlic and Cayenne lower blood pressure safely and rapidly.Cayenne is used in formulas for pain relief, infection, respiratory ailments, female problems, thyroid balance and heart treatments. Cayenne is an ingredient in laxatives, diuretics and ulcer medication. Added to ginger, Cayenne helps clean out the bronchial tubes... This powerful stimulant can also be used as a relaxant to soothe gas, diarrhea, asthma and toothaches.Externally, the aromatic herb makes a very effective pain killer or anesthetic. Cayenne has been used in poultices for centuries as an irritant or counter-irritant. Exposure to the pungent herb can cause pain but prolonged exposure deadens the nerves to pain.
Folk medicine prescribes Cayenne powder, plaster, poultice, tincture and ointment for a variety of aches and pains including arthritis, rheumatism and bursitis. Cayenne has also been touted as one of the most powerful cures for hemorrhoids. Application of Cayenne ointment brings relief from hemorrhoids but it is also recommended that the patient be warned of the pungent herb’s potency... Mexican folklore also refers to the use of Cayenne as a pain killer and it has been applied dry on wounds.Ayurveda also utilizes cayenne to treat poor digestion and gas. Chinese medicine uses cayenne for digestive ailments.
Cayenne's red color is due in part to its high vitamin A content, which is essential for normal vision, growth, cellular activity, reproduction and healthy immunity. It is useful to arrest hemorrhaging (external and internal) and it is cleansing and healing when used to purify external wounds. Cayenne helps heal ulcers in the cell structures of the arteries, veins, and capillaries.
With or Without a Capsule? 2 Divergent views:WITH A CAPSULE: With the advent of the gelatin capsule, people who could not tolerate the bite of the red pepper can take it with ease... It is important to remember that a little Cayenne goes a long way. Nature made the red pepper hot for a reason so if you can’t swallow too much outside the capsule, don’t try to swallow to much inside the capsule. People who don’t usually eat hot spicy food should build tolerance slowly.
WITHOUT A CAPSULE, AND WHY: It is recommended that the cayenne powder be used, directly in the mouth or in a tea, as opposed to capsules. It is believed that you are only getting a small part of the potential effect of cayenne pepper by taking it in capsules. When you put cayenne directly in your mouth, your stomach secretes digestive juices before the cayenne ever gets there. So when the cayenne gets down there, your stomach is ready for it.

But if you swallow a capsule, your tongue tastes nothing. A capsule goes down in your stomach, and your stomach notices nothing, at first. Then, 5 minutes later the gelatin bursts, and you have a 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper in your stomach and your body is shocked. You surprised it.
What is going on is that some of cayenne's healing action occurs right in your mouth. As cayenne touches your tongue, the cayenne absorbs in seconds and nerve endings send signals throughout the body - sending waves of fresh blood throughout your body. When taken internally, cayenne soothes the digestive tract and stimulates the flow of stomach secretions and saliva. These secretions contain substances which help digest food.
People who are not used to cayenne just need to work their way up. One problem people have is that they blow their mouths with cayenne, right off the bat. For those who have never used cayenne pepper before, a good initial dosage is 1/16th of a teaspoonful in some juice. Work your way up in dosage slowly. Put a small amount in some juice, stir and drink. Delicious.
As a condiment, cayenne aids digestion and soothes intestinal ailments by stimulating the stomach to produce mucous. When you have a sick area, there's often a restriction of blood flow to that area. Blood flow is what takes nutrition and the healing properties of herbs to those cells. Blood flow is also what carries out and removes waste material. Cayenne pepper is like TNT. It blasts through all that blockage to get to that area which is sick, taking with it all the minerals and vitamins from the foods you eat, and all the vital chemicals from the herbs you take - all the way to the sick area.
Cayenne is the greatest herbal aid to circulation and can be used on a regular basis. Dr. Richard Schulze, the medical herbalist, says that "If you master only one herb in your life, master cayenne pepper. It is more powerful than any other." There is no other herb which increases your blood flow faster than cayenne. Cayenne moves blood. When people ask Dr. Schultze, "What are the 10 most important herbs to have in the home?" He tells them, "At the top of the list is cayenne pepper, because it will make the other 9 work better."Cayenne is the greatest blood circulation stimulant known. You can take all the milk thistle you want, but if you have bad circulation to your liver, it's not going to do you any good. Cayenne increases your blood circulation immediately within seconds, more than any other herb.
Stories:
"The next time I personally used cayenne was when I had prostate cancer. Part of the Thompsonian treatment was the use of cayenne pepper to intensify circulation of blood, oxygen, and nutrition. The cayenne also increased my ability to cleanse and detox the body. Cayenne was also used to amplify my immune system's energy and healing power. Three months into the treatment I was symptom free.""In my third personal experience, I was involved in a construction accident, I fell from a roof to the ground and injured my lower back. I immediately began treating the injured area with cayenne pepper powder. An MRI exam revealed herniations to the injured area. I was able to continue working despite the injuries and I healed quickly."
"My most dramatic clinical experience with cayenne's healing powers came when a doctor of Chinese medicine called me from Hawaii. He had ulcers at both the cardiac and duodenal sphincters. He said he was in extreme pain and throwing up blood. I advised him to take the hottest cayenne pepper capsules available. Within a day the bleeding stopped and the pain subsided."
"Inga showed up with a gushing index finger after accidentally cutting off its tip with a miter saw five hours earlier. Although bleeding non-stop, she had been turned away by the local hospital as she had no insurance. Inga was extremely pale and dizzy when she arrived. We stuck her finger into a jar of powdered cayenne made from African Bird peppers (approx. 200,000 heat units). At first the pain was pretty intense, but no worse than it had been the previous few hours. We wrapped the finger with cayenne powder clinging to the open wound. The cayenne had already cauterized the wound, so the bleeding had stopped."
For Emergency:
I would place the hottest powder or extract under the tongue for crises such as shock, hemorrhage, stroke or heart attack. For daily use I add Cayenne to my food a little at a time. For emergencies I keep powder and tincture on hand.Arthritis and Cayenne:
Cayenne is the only known herb or medication to relieve the pain and reverse the disease of arthritis. The scientific community has done over thirteen hundred studies and many confirmed that cayenne and capsaicin do relieve arthritic symptoms and improve joint flexibility. You can now find creams, liniments, and plasters in health food and drug stores that contain the key ingredient of cayenne, capsicum. How I have used the cream for arthritis:
I put the cream on the area and rub it in 4 times a day. Another way I have used the cream is to put a liberal amount on the area, cover it with a sheet of plastic wrap, then wrap it with a sports wrap type elastic bandage. For my elbow or knee I used a sports support for the appropriate area. Treating my back, I used a back support wrap to hold the plastic wrap in place. I felt heat in the area, and if the cream seemed too hot, I diluted it with a little cold cream. If it is not hot enough, I use a stronger cream. I washed off the cream with soap and water one half hour before I showered or took a bath.Emphysema, colds and flu and all other respiratory conditions:
Cayenne taken internally can quickly improve and eliminate the conditions caused by the above respiratory conditions. Note cayenne is a powerful expectorant herb. When I had bronchitis, I noticed a lot of mucus came out of my lungs as I treated myself."In 35 years of practice. . . I have never lost one heart-attack patient." ... That’s a pretty remarkable claim to make, but Dr. John Christopher, the famous master herbalist, said it with confidence.Cayenne is one of the fastest-acting aids for the heart, because it feeds the heart immediately.
“If they are still breathing, I [give] them a cup of cayenne tea (a teaspoon of cayenne in a cup of hot water), and within minutes they are up and around.”Here’s how it works: Cayenne helps maintain the "river of life," also known as the bloodstream. A stagnated "river of life" leads to blockages, which lead to oxygen starvation, which leads to organ dysfunction, disease, and, in severe cases, heart attack. Cayenne pepper works like a drain opener that blasts through the blockages, delivering oxygenated blood into sick or dying organs faster than any other medicine or herb can get there.
Cayenne taken internally as a tea will stop the bleeding — even from a severe cut or gunshot wound — in most cases by the time you can count to ten. Cayenne has a natural, powerful, equalizing effect on blood-pressure. When it hits your bloodstream — which it does immediately — it adjusts your blood pressure from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet. Thus, the high pressure at the wound site is alleviated and clotting can start at once.Cayenne is better than a cup of coffee for energy, mental clarity, and being kind to the body since it doesn’t wipe out the adrenal glands with harmful stimulants. Cayenne has so many positive effects on the body, the list seems endless, especially since most health problems start with a lack of circulation triggered by anything from clogging foods, medications, lack of exercise, to depression, etc.
Animals and Cayenne: Many BASTIS Foundation clients have animal companions who also need help. One young pug was brought in with sudden deafness and dizziness, according to her "father."
Pugs tend to have difficulty breathing and she had just had sinus surgery followed by the usual antibiotics. Soon she was walking into walls. She didn't respond to any noises whatsoever — not even her dinner bell.
We suspected a bad reaction to the antibiotics and recommended a teaspoon of cayenne tincture poured down her throat to blast her nerves back into action.
Whoa! Talk about a pug with bugged-out eyes! The little girl rubbed her face all over the floor, wriggled on her back and rubbed at her ears with her paws for close to five minutes. Then her 'dad' called to her. She jumped up and ran to him! To this day, she's jumping, snorting, and racing to her food bowl whenever she's called.
Capsaicin, has been proven to protect your DNA and cells from attack by toxic molecules such as from tobacco, and other toxins. They can also prevent cancer by inhibiting the transformation of cells which eventually form cancer.
However, it is not just a matter of using Cayenne. The quality of the cayenne is extremely important.
You should keep a bottle of this cayenne tincture or bag the cayenne powder in your kitchen, the glove compartment of your cars, etc. as it can be life saving!!
Specific Remedies:Sources:
a.) For Health Maintenance: Put 5 drops in water or juice and drink it 1-3 times a day. You can slowly increase the dosage.
b.) For a bleeding wound: Liberally flush the wound with cayenne tincture or pack with cayenne powder and apply pressure to the wound. Depending on the severity of the bleeding, also take 1-10 dropper-fuls of the tincture in a few ounces of water in your mouth. Or just put directly into your mouth.

ON MAGICJACK FROM A TORONTO USER: " I've used Magic Jack for about 6 months now. It's great for occasional use (I have friends in the US) but I can't say it's perfect - sometimes the line isn't clear, which I hang up and call again - the call forwarding feature sometimes doesn't work (I have it forwarded to my cell phone) - but on the other hand, there aren't any monthly charges. Oh and when I signed up, there weren't any Toronto numbers which means your Canadian friends/associates will have to pay long distance - luckily, my friends were in the US on unlimited "within US" calling plan so they would call from Texas, Chicago, New York to my Chicago-based number for free."While the MagicJack is definitely interesting, its shortcomings, at least for now, outweigh its strengths.
![]() |
MagicJack was discussed here last month. While it does have advantages, criticisms have been discovered in the meantime. Such as: |
Nov 2007: The software for the MagicJack does not run directly from the device. It fully installs on the Windows system, which also makes the MagicJack less attractive for situations where one might want to use it on someone else's computer (say when visiting family). Making this even worse, there was no easy way to uninstall the software from the system, with the program not even showing up in the Windows Remove Program window.UPDATE: MagicJack confirmed that there is currently no easy way to uninstall the software. The process required to uninstall the software requires multiple Windows Registry edits and the removal of several folders on the Windows system. Based on this, I wouldn't recommend using the MagicJack on the systems of friends, family or business associates.
FROM WIKIPEDIA: Users have expressed concerns with the advertisements displayed by the product and the policy which allows YMAX to analyze numbers called by customers. From the EULA (End User Licence Agreement):
"You also understand and agree that use of the magicJack device and Software will include advertisements and that these advertisements are necessary for the magicJack device to work ... Our computers may analyze the phone numbers you call in order to improve the relevance of the ads."
The EULA also forces users to resolve all legal issues with the company through arbitration in Palm Beach, Florida. The Better Business Bureau of Southeast Florida has received hundreds of customer service complaints, primarily related to difficulty returning the product under the 30 day guarantee. The company is currently not rated by the BBB but has received a F rating in the past. According to the Better Business Bureau records, the company has provided refunds in all cases. The inventor has also responded to customer service complaints on the company website as well as a May 2008 interview with Laptop Magazine
MagicJack does not provide an uninstallation method either in the software or in any documentation. Removing software from a windows machine requires editing the registry. Step-by-step instructions have been published by MagicJack users.
According to the company's terms of service (TOS), a customer satisfaction guarantee is offered for the device and service for the first 30 days only and no warranty exists beyond that period.
From Even More Humongous Data Storage to Spectacular Screens
The September newsletter mentioned drives with much more storage than we have been used to: Terabyte drives. The January issue spoke about Petabytes, exabytes, zettabytes and yottabytes --- which are much greater than the megabytes or gigabytes that we are getting used to and bigger still than the terabytes that we are moving into. Now we know that "all words ever spoken by human beings" could be stored in approximately 5 exabytes of data,..."
The January issue also spoke about the Blu-Ray disc, which is a disc which holds 5x the amount of data than a DVD holds (25GB vs. 4.7 GB) and its accompanying disc drive. The advantage of this is much greater resolution, as well as storage.
NOW! We have! OLED! no, not OLE,,,, OLED!
Last month: Higher capacity disks (Blu Ray)
This month: Higher contrast, thinner, flexible ---
Screens
Thinking of buying a Plasma Screen? Or New TV? Think the
price is coming down because of poor sales? Nope!
Here we go again: NEW TECHNOLOGY!
OLEDs. OLED = organic light-emitting diode.
Sony has developed a flexible full color display that can be built onto a sheet of plastic that can be BENT! – but still show video. The pixels emit their own light so an additional light source is not required. This means the screens consume less power and can be made thinner.Basically it is a thin film with an organic compound.
A million to one contrast ratio.
3 to 11 millimeters thick !!!
Incredibly bright, incredibly detailed and vivid
Up to 40% more efficient per panel inch when compared to conventional flat panel technologies.
Consumes less electricity than a light bulb!"This is an amazing new technology that will enable extremely thin TV's with a contrast ratio that is about 100 times greater than the best consumer LCD's or Plasma's on the market today, thanks to the fact that they have no backlight. Extremely power efficient. Much faster response times. Much brighter, with more vivid colors than existing TV's too.
A few issues remain to get this technology to the mainstream. The biggest issue is that the organic material used has a relatively short life span. However this issue is being addressed, and as of recently the 11" version just hit the world market for real. Right now it sells for $2,499. Expect full sized OLED TV's to hit the mainstream market in 2011 or later. Expect 30" models to start to appear in 2009."

Diane Tait, Chartered Herbalist (from Dominion Herbal College) has been in private practice since 1997.
Diane is also a Dowser and uses dowsing in her practice to determine the best choices for her clients, such as determining if certain herbs, although possibly recommended for a specific imbalance, might not be appropriate --- for whatever reason --- for the client at that time. She will show us how she does this.
She teaches a 6 Saturday course in Practical Herbalism from May to October where which the students learn to identify various 'safe' herbs throughout the growing seasons. Students collect and make the remedy and at the end, they have their own small herbal pharmacy with enough knowledge to be able to use it with themselves and friends and family.
She also works with the stone people (crystals) and teaches some classes in crystals where the concentration is on connecting the person with the powers and sentience of the mineral kingdom.
Diane is also a professional violinist and is the Assistant Concertmaster of the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra.
Come enjoy this wonderful hands on informative dowsing presentation. Bring your pendulum! If you are not yet a dowser, or a beginning dowser, be sure to come to see how this works! People will be there to help you.
